Tesla paint is soft. Here is the protection plan that works
Tesla clear coat marks easily, the front bumper and hood collect chips on any highway, and a glass roof turns the cabin into a greenhouse. Owners who film the front, coat the car and tint the glass stop thinking about all three.
What tesla owners run into
Swirls show after two bad washes. Coating hardens the surface and makes washing safe; film stops the chips a coating cannot.
Ceramic tint on the roof and rear glass drops cabin temperature noticeably without going dark on the sides.
Stainless does not chip, but it fingerprints and stains. Clear film and a coating keep it clean; see the Cybertruck guide.
The plan
Model 3 and Y are priced as sedan and SUV; S and X carry a premium-finish uplift.
Model Y PPF cost →XPEL, STEK and SunTek all have Tesla patterns; the installer matters more than the brand.
Best PPF for Tesla →Request offers and ask each studio how many Teslas it has filmed this year.

Questions tesla owners ask
Does Tesla paint really need PPF?
Not need, but Tesla clear coat is on the thin side and the front bumper takes chips at normal highway speeds. Full front PPF is the most common Tesla order at studios for that reason.
Can I tint the Tesla glass roof?
Yes. A 70 percent ceramic film on the roof is invisible and blocks most infrared heat. Check your state rule for roof glass in the tint law tool.
What does full front PPF cost on a Model Y?
About $2,160 to $3,600 in 2026 at the SUV multiplier; Model 3 runs $1,800 to $3,000.
