PPF or ceramic coating: which one does your car actually need?
Installers decide this with four questions. Answer them and you get the same recommendation they would give, with the reasoning.
Answer the four questions and the recommendation appears here.
Questions people ask
Can I do both?
Yes, and on a car you will keep, it is the usual answer: film on the front where chips happen, coating over the whole car including the film for gloss and easy washing.
Which goes on first?
PPF first, then ceramic coating on top. Coating under film prevents the film from bonding properly.
Is a coating enough for a daily driver?
If you do normal miles and the paint is standard gloss, a 3 to 5 year coating is enough for most people. Film becomes worth it with highway miles, gravel or soft paint.
What about a lease?
Under two years, a coating alone. Film rarely recovers its cost before the car goes back, unless the lease has a paint-damage clause you expect to trip.
